Deleting your account

Your RideMeter Tracker account can be deleted from inside the app, in under a minute, with nothing to ask us for. If you no longer have the app, ask us here.

Which account this is

Recording rides needs no account at all. The only account RideMeter has is the one for the GPS tracker on your bike — you sign in to it with your phone number or with Google, and it exists so that your tracker's location can reach your phone and nobody else's.

So if you have never activated a tracker, there is nothing here to delete: your rides are on your phone, and deleting them is a matter of deleting the ride — or uninstalling the app.

If you have signed in, this page is how that account goes away. It applies to the app on iOS and on Android, both published by RideMeter under the identifier com.vn.th.ridemeter.

Delete it in the app

This is the fastest way and it needs nobody's help. The steps are the same on iOS and on Android.

Open the Profile tab
You need to be signed in — the card at the top shows the phone number or Google account you signed in with.
Tap Delete account
It is the last row of the settings card, under Tracker, Language and Settings, and it is the red one.
Read what goes, then confirm
The screen lists everything that will be removed before it asks. Confirming deletes the account there and then — there is no waiting period and no email to reply to.

If you are asked to sign in again

Deleting an account is a sensitive operation, so it needs a sign-in that happened recently. If yours is older than a few minutes the app signs you out and asks you to sign in once more — nothing has been deleted at that point. Sign in, tap Delete account again, and it goes through.

mail

Request it by email

Use this if you no longer have the app, or the phone, or you cannot sign in. Write to tuanhwing2014@gmail.com with the subject RideMeter account deletion, and tell us:

  • The phone number or the Google address you signed in with — that is what identifies the account.
  • The IMEI of your tracker, if you have the box or the label. It is not required, and it helps.

We will check that it is you

An email address is not proof of who owns a phone number, and this account can unlock a bike and show where it is. So we will reply asking you to confirm — from the app, or with a code sent to the number on the account. If we cannot establish that the account is yours we will say so rather than delete somebody else's.

What gets deleted

All of it, in one go, either way you ask:

  • Your trackers and their whole location history. The device record is deleted, and every position it ever reported goes with it.
  • Sharing. Anyone you let watch a bike loses access, and bikes other people shared with you disappear from your side.
  • Alerts. Theft and movement rules are removed, and the push token that let us notify this phone is taken off the account.
  • The account itself and the way you sign in to it. The link between your phone number — or your Google sign-in — and the account is deleted, and so is the sign-in record with our authentication provider.

Your tracker is not bricked

The activation code printed on the box becomes usable again, so you — or whoever you sell the bike to — can set the same tracker up on a new account. That code identifies the hardware, not you, and it is the one record about the box that outlives the account.

What is not ours to delete

Three things survive, and none of them are on our servers:

  • Rides recorded on your phone. They were never uploaded — they live in the app, on the device. Delete them in the app, or uninstall it.
  • Activities you sent to Strava. Once uploaded they belong to your Strava account and follow Strava's rules. Delete them there.
  • Purchase records. Apple and Google keep their own record of any subscription or purchase; we never see a payment method, and we cannot remove their records.
schedule

How long it takes

Deleting from inside the app is immediate: by the time the screen says the account is gone, it is gone from the live service. An emailed request is answered within 30 days and usually within a few working days, once we have confirmed it is your account.

Two copies take a little longer to age out, and neither is reachable from the app or by us on request:

  • Encrypted backups of the server are kept for 30 days before they rotate away. A backup taken before your deletion still holds the old data until it does.
  • Server access logs record an IP address, a timestamp and which endpoint was called. They carry no phone number and no account details, and they rotate on size.

Questions about any of this go to tuanhwing2014@gmail.com. The full picture of what the app stores is in the privacy policy.
