RideMeter

Privacy Policy

Effective: April 1, 2026

Introduction

RideMeter is a bicycle ride tracking app that respects your privacy by design. All your data stays on your device — we do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using RideMeter, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

RideMeter does not collect any personal information. The app does not require an account, sign-up, or any form of registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.

During active ride tracking, the app accesses the following data from your device's sensors:

This data is generated and stored entirely on your device and is never sent to any server or third party.

How We Use Your Data

The ride data accessed by RideMeter is used solely to:

Data Storage

All ride data is stored locally on your device. There is no cloud storage, no remote database, and no server infrastructure associated with RideMeter.

Your data remains entirely under your control and is never uploaded, synced, or shared externally.

Location Permissions

RideMeter requests access to your device's location services to track your rides. The app may use location in two modes:

Location data is used exclusively for ride tracking and is never transmitted off your device. You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device's Settings.

Live Activities

RideMeter supports Live Activities to display ride information on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. This feature shows real-time ride data such as speed, distance, and duration directly on your device's display.

Live Activities operate entirely on-device and do not send any data to external servers.

Strava Integration

Strava sync is opt-in. Nothing is sent to Strava unless you explicitly connect your Strava account. You can disconnect at any time from Settings → Strava.

RideMeter can optionally upload your completed rides to Strava so they appear on your Strava profile alongside rides you record with other apps or devices. This feature is provided by Strava, Inc.

When you tap Connect with Strava, the app opens Strava's official login page in a secure web view. You sign in with your Strava credentials directly on Strava's servers — RideMeter never sees your Strava password. On success, Strava sends back an authorization token that the app stores in the device Keychain.

While connected, the following data is transmitted from your device to Strava when a ride is synced:

Once connected, Auto-sync is turned on by default so each completed ride is uploaded automatically. You can turn Auto-sync off, manually sync individual rides from the ride summary, or disconnect Strava entirely from the Settings screen. Disconnecting deletes the stored Strava token from your device; it does not delete activities already uploaded to Strava.

Once a ride is uploaded, it is governed by your Strava account settings and Strava's own privacy policy. To remove an uploaded activity you must delete it from Strava. For details on how Strava handles your data, see the Strava Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Services

RideMeter integrates with a single third-party service: Google AdMob, used to display advertisements (see Advertising below). Aside from this, the app contains:

Advertising

RideMeter is free to download and use. To support ongoing development and keep the app free for everyone, RideMeter displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a mobile advertising service provided by Google LLC.

The Google AdMob SDK may access certain non-personal device information — such as your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), language, country, device model, and approximate location derived from your IP address — in order to deliver and measure ads. This information is handled by Google in accordance with their own privacy policy.

For details on how Google collects and uses data through AdMob, see Google's Advertising Policies and Google's Privacy Policy. You can also limit ad tracking at any time by going to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device and disabling "Allow Apps to Request to Track", or by managing tracking permission for RideMeter individually.

To remove all advertisements from the app, you can purchase a Premium subscription. See In-App Purchases & Subscriptions below for pricing and details.

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

RideMeter is free to use and supported by ads. To remove ads and unlock premium features, you can purchase one of the following auto-renewable subscriptions:

Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and may vary by region. The actual price will be as displayed in the App Store at the time of purchase.

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.

Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.

For details on how we handle your data, please refer to this Privacy Policy.

Data Deletion

You are in full control of your data. You can delete any individual ride record at any time by swiping to delete within the app. Uninstalling RideMeter will also remove all associated data from your device.

Children's Privacy

RideMeter does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect, store, or transmit personal data, it is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
